I support the 2nd Amendment as a Constitutional protection no different than any other amendment in our Bill of Rights.
As we can never compromise on our right of freedom of speech, protection against unreasonable searches and seizures, and the right to trial by jury, we can never compromise on our right to bear arms.
I believe this because I’m a former United States Army Infantry Officer who spent four years patrolling the streets of Diyala and Salah ad Din provinces, Iraq. I know what the protective value of a firearm is. If, God forbid, my family was ever in mortal danger with only me to protect them, I am eternally grateful that I can, and will, be armed.
That is why we, as a free people, must always protect the "right of the people to keep and bear Arms."
The 2nd Amendment guarantees my individual right to protect my family.
The 2nd Amendment is the safeguard that ensures the rule of law will be upheld and protects me, my family, my friends, and my community, against a tyrannical government.
The 2nd Amendment is the one that protects and enforces the rest of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution in whole.
How do I know all of this?
I’ve seen what happens to societies that do not have the right to bear arms and who do not enjoy Constitutional protections.
