As a first generation American, I recognize the value that immigrants play in creating the fabric of American society.
That being said, border security is national security.
We need to secure the border once and for all. There is no single issue within the immigration debate more important than this.
The American government is obligated to protect the American people and in that it has failed. Unless we control the border, we cannot consider ourselves safe from terrorism.
Additionally, the rule of law must be enforced. Unconstitutional amnesty and sanctuary policies must end.
While these ideas are completely sensible and supported by the vast majority of Americans, my oponent, Democrat Ed Perlmutter, does not agree. He supports the radical and dangerous immigration agenda put forward by President Obama.
For example, Ed Perlmutter voted against the American SAFE Act of 2015 which would have instituted stronger screening processes for refugees from Iraq and Syria. He also voted against the Enforce the Law for Sanctuary Cities Act, allowing cities to flout immigration law while endangering our local communities.
Ed Perlmutter is too dangerous to send back to Washington.
We must secure the border. We know how to do it, it's just that Ed Perlmutter lacks the will to do it.
As your United States Representative, I will make securing the border, enforcing the law, and protecting my constituents from terrorism my priorities.
Only when the border is secure and our local communities are protected is any further resolution in the immigration debate possible.
